Globular

The botanical genus Globularia (the cells) includes plants classified in the family and Plantain in the subfamily Globularioideae. They once belonged to the family Globulariacées suppressed by phylogenetic classification.

These are mostly southern perennials, full leaves and alternate. The flowers are almost always in shades of blue, and many are clustered in heads surrounded by bracts foliaceous simple.

They are small and zygomorphic, with two lips: the upper, two lobes, is often atrophied, the bottom has three lobes more or less emarginate. Four stamens. The fruit is an achene surrounded by the persistent calyx.
