Salvia sclarea Uses

The Clary sage is rarely cultivated as an ornamental plant in perennial beds. He has been at least 9 Century culture, there are several varieties.

He will he used as a medicinal plant, and spice. It was used to flavor vermouth wines. It is used in the cosmetics and fragrance industry.

It used the following drugs:

* Salvia sclarea herba (synonyms: Gallitrichi Herba, Herba Hormini sativi, Salvia sclarea Herba): There are harvested at the height above ground plant parts.
Oleum * Salvia sclarea (Synonym: Salvia sclarea aetheroleum): It is the Salvia sclarea oil or clary sage oil): It is the essential oil obtained from the shoot tips and flower stalls. It consists chiefly of Linalyacetat (least 75%), linalool (up to of 30%) and alcohol sclareol.

Leaves and flowers can be eaten raw or cooked.
