The Finger Helmet Flower

The finger helmet flower (Corydalis solida) is a plant of the poppy family (Papaveraceae). The plant is also known under names such as bird-on-the-crank and Fumewort. The species is closely related to the holwortel (Corydalis cava). The finger helmet flower of this species is distinguished by the hand-shaped incision bract bracts of the flowers. The name is a reference to the bracts. In holwortel these leaves smooth edges.

The finger helmet flower blooms from March to April. In summer, the ants spread seeds that ants have sandwiches. The finger helmet flower is native to the southern half of the Netherlands. In the coastal areas and clay stinzen them as plants.
